Tourism professionals at Convention and Visitors Bureaus – CVBs (or Destination Marketing Organizations – DMOs) are implementing some innovative programs to increase visitation in their destinations. We call them Tourism Best Practices, named one of the “Top 15 Tourism Marketing Blogs And Websites To Follow in 2018.”

Springfield (IL) CVB Wins Auction for Historic Route 66 Neon Sign

Call it destination preservation. The DMO wins the auction for one of the city’s remaining Route 66 landmarks.

Marketing Campaigns DMOs have launched:

Williamsburg (VA) Launches “Expect The Funexpected” Campaign

Little Rock (AK) Launches “Rock Star” Campaign

Winchester (VA) To Highlight Sports and Agritourism

Seattle (WA) Offers Savings During Seattle Month

Morrisey Video Production Releases 10 Destination Marketing Strategies

We don’t see too many stories about tourism offices doing research. More should be done. Winchester (VA) is asking for public input on tourism and Randolph County (WV) conducts a survey to gather more info.

Finally, while a coat drive probably doesn’t attract a single visitor, hats off (or should we say “coats off”) to the Madison (WI) CVB for again leading the Big Bundle Up program which gave away 200 coats!
