Milestone – 300th Blog Post

Milestone – 300th Blog Post

Reached a milestone this week – my 300th blog post. By the way, I actually said that correctly – “blog post” – as my friend Sheila clarified recently: Sheila Blog

I could have either ignored the milestone and kept going with posts, or recognize the watershed moment. Obviously, I chose the later. Please join me on this retrospective.

300

These musings started when I was the chair of the Travel Industry Association of Kansas board. I would summarize board meetings and educational seminars. I then started sharing other marketing tips. Some were business in general. Such was the first post of record. Others were on character. In general though, marketing best practices and ideas. Admittedly it’s been easy to reach this mark as I compile articles on either customer service, social media, email marketing, or tourism, and post daily.

I’ve share emotions with you through these posts. I cried when I lost a significant client. I vented as I saw a social media practice abused. Some, perhaps were motivating and helpful for myself.

The post with the most interaction? Probably two. I wrote an email marketing plan for RV parks. Tourism Currents picked it up and it spread like RVs driving north from Texas in the spring. The ladies at Tourism Currents shared in the other. They asked me to pen an article about how email marketing and social media can work together. It was their most read article last summer. (Thanks Sheila and Leslie!)

The most satisfying? No one has commented with “you’re a complete idiot! That’s all wrong!” Perhaps a few of you have thought as much and just been kind to have not commented, but as far as I know, no one has disputed any of the articles. One gentleman did share one of the titles was poor. I thought it was a cute play on words.

Where do I go from here? Obviously, 301, 302, 350, 400…

Thanks for reading!
